Braun Series 3 ProSkin 3040s Men's Electric Razor (Wet and Dry)

This electric razor provides a very close shave. Almost as close as disposable razors do. That is due to the 2 x SensoFoil technology. The first time I used it, I had no shaving cream on and I didn’t get any red bumps afterwards. However, you should absolutely avoid doing that. The one feature I adore about this electric shaver is that it doesn’t allow hair to fall all over the place. It captures the hair well and you can easily rinse it in the sink. That’s due to built-in Micro Comb technology. It’s also quite easy to clean.

Unfortunately, it’s not the best razor for those who don’t have time for shaving since you might need to go over the same patch of skin more than once. It doesn’t really lead to razor burn, but it does leave skin a bit dry. Many razors do that, so it’s not a biggie as long as you use moisturizing cream afterwards. This electric shaver comes with two batteries that actually last quite long. When I was using it, at some point I almost forgot it was running on batteries! I could shave with it for two weeks without needing to recharge! Overall, it is a very basic electric shaver with a good grip and amazing battery life. It only takes around 1 hour and 45 minutes to fully charge, which is considerably less when thinking about previous electric shaver models. It’s waterproof and comes with a foil that protects the skin from sharp blades. Moreover, it has a Triple action Free-float system, which allows the shaver to move easily on your legs.

Pros

  • Works well without shaving cream
  • Requires simple cleaning
  • Great battery life

Cons

  • Might need to go over the same patch of skin more than once
  • Might cause drier skin than usual

Panasonic ES8243A Arc4 Electric Razor

I do believe it’s one of the best if not the best men’s electric shaver for women’s legs. Although I don’t own it myself, my boyfriend does and I love to steal it from time to time. When I first tried it, I vowed to myself to never use disposal razors again. It shaves super close and barely irritates the skin. The shaver is a bit pricy, but the replacement blades are cheap. However, my boyfriend didn’t change the blades for up to a year, and he still gets a shave as close as day one. I would recommend replacing the blades more often though. Just for the sake of better hygiene. In contrary to disposable razors, this one will not give you a nightmare of ingrown hairs! That’s mainly because razor blades are made of hypoallergenic, stainless-steel, which provides comfort even to the most sensitive skin. In addition, the blades on this shaver feature nanotechnology; which provides a close shave.

The head on this shaver can be in flexible mode or you can lock with a simple switch. That’s helpful if you decide to shave more curvy areas! If you are like me and forget to recharge the device, you’ll like how it can turbocharge! By the time you decide what outfit to wear, it will be fully charged. One friend who owns this shaver has had it for about five years, and says that the battery is still going strong. If there is one thing I did not like about this electric shaver it is that the power button is right where I place my thumb while holding it. Therefore, I keep on turning it on and off by accident when shaving. That can surely be annoying.

Pros

  • Gives a very close shave
  • Has a flexible head
  • Suitable even for most sensitive skin that gets easily irritated

Cons

  • A little pricy
  • On and off switch is right where the thumb should hold the shaver

Remington F5-5800 Foil Shaver

This little beauty is quite cheap, practical and does its job. That’s mostly the reason why the shaver made it to the list. Remington’s shaving head is super flexible. The pivot and flex technology will allow you to shave any area of your body, not just your legs! The shaver gives a smooth shave with a push of a button. However, it does take time get to the point where the skin is completely free of hairs. You’ll need to go over the same patch more than once. The handle is comfortable and easy to grip on.

Unfortunately, the shaver’s battery life is not great. You’ll need to recharge batteries after every 3 – 4 shaves. My personal recommendation - keep the note to yourself to remember to charge the device. Although, you can still use it while it’s charging. That’s quite good if you’re as forgetful as I am. A downside of this one is that it is louder than most electric shavers. The price is good considering the fact that it also pre-trims longer hairs and prepares them for a closer shave.

Pros

  • Can be used while charging
  • Relatively small price for what the gadget offers

Cons

  • You will need to go over the same patch of skin to completely get rid of hairs.
  • Is louder than other shavers.

Braun Series 5 5090/5190cc Electric Foil Shaver

The Braun Series 5 is a bit too pricy. However, you will get exactly what you pay for. You do not have to wait until hair is fully grown to get a clean shave. This is due to Macro-motion technology that is specially designed to maximize skin contact on large contours. Another good feature about this product is the Acti-Lift Trimmer; this technology is specially designed to capture hair that is growing in different directions or hair that is lying flat. The product has a cleaning light that will light up once it is time to clean it and will go off once it is cleaned. All in all, this electric shaver is a safe bet. The product itself seems to be easy to maintain and the replacement blades are relatively cheap and easy to get.

It makes sense to buy this gadget only if you have extra sensitive skin and razors bumps are a constant struggle for you. Otherwise, you could get other relatively good shavers for a smaller price that do the job as well. It’s simply hard to resist the fancy features the razor comes with! One of my friend has it and really can say nothing bad about it. At the end of the day, it’s an investment into yourself.

Pros

  • Captures hairs growing in different directions
  • Charging takes only one hour

Cons

  • Takes time to clean

Surker RSCW-9008

This electric shaver is quite cheap. If you are travelling or going away on the weekend, then it might be just what you need! That’s due to USB charging feature that makes it suitable for travelling. It’s light in weight, which makes it comfortable to hold it. I know that some of us, ladies, have week hands and wrists that start hurting when holding something heavy. Therefore, it’s   definitely a plus.

It’s a bit plastic-y and that can be annoying to some of you. However, it does have a pivoting head that simply makes everything better. It will follow every curve to minimize skin irritation and maximize clean shaving. It does the job well for the price.

Pros

  • Cheap
  • Light in weight
  • Perfect for travel

Cons

  • Feels and appears to be plastic
  • Blades need frequent changing

Exfoliate

Are you aware of what happens when you have a pile of dead cells lying on your skin? It dims your natural glow. The answer to the question that’s probably roaming inside your head now is exfoliation. Our skin adores a gentle touch, and exfoliation seems to be pretty much the opposite. It is the key to getting a good shave since it gets rid of dead cells that could otherwise get in the way of the shaver and cause razor bumps afterwards. You can use a fancy brand that costs a fortune or a good old homemade scrub, but make sure to exfoliate once every week. If you live in a warmer climate or have oily skin, then you might need to get rid of the buildup more than twice a week. Restore your natural glow and maximize the effect by applying some moisturizing cream afterwards.

Avoid Soap

shaving cream on legs, hand

I know, shaving cream can sometimes be a bit too expensive, or you can simply forget to buy it. However, for a clean and smooth shave you might want to use some of it. You can either by it or make it by yourself. If you have sensitive or dry skin, I recommend you to stay away from shaving foam. You should go for a cream based product to offer enough moisture for your skin. At all costs, try to avoid using soap and water. Soap dries out your skin and increases the chance of getting razor bumps afterwards. Whenever I cannot find the right shaving cream, I use hair conditioner instead. You don’t need a lot of it. Just a thin layer. At least it does not dry out my skin.

Be Considerate of Your Skin

Whenever I am in the shower after a good shave I tend to forget and start tugging at my skin with a loofah. Don’t do it! Please keep in mind that newly shaven skin is really sensitive and can be easily irritated. You want to be as gentle as possible. What I’m trying to say here is that you shouldn’t exfoliate after shaving. You will have to wait at least a couple of days before you can do it again.

A Good Product is the Reason Why

If you are looking for the right shaving product, you need to know that whatever works for your friend may not necessarily work for you. Just take your time and find products that suit you or make your own shaving creams using a little bit of foam and coconut oil.

Short Strokes vs. Long Strokes

There is a misconception between women that long strokes give better results. When you use long strokes, you will probably have to go over the same patch of skin more than once. If you are in a hurry, simply postpone shaving your legs, but under no circumstances should you mistreat them. Go for short strokes and make sure the area you went over is neatly shaven so you do not have to go over it again. However, if you do go for short strokes and find that you still have to go over the same area again and again, chances are that your blade is getting dull and needs a replacement.
