best shavers for women

There are many undeniable benefits of using an electric razor. Thus, it’s no surprise that millions of women are using them every day. I’m certainly one of them. Unfortunately, I’ve always been suffering from razor bumps since I have extremely sensitive skin. So, I had no choice but to find the best electric shaver for women and use it. Just to let you know, ingrown hair is no longer a problem of mine.

If you’re searching just for the right women’s electric razor, here are a couple reviews of some of my favorites. I’ve also covered all the features that you should probably look for in any lady shaver.

  • LumaRx Women’s Foil Shaver

  • Panasonic ES2207P

  • Panasonic ES-LA63-S Arc4

  • Panasonic ES2216PC

  • Panasonic ES8103S Arc3

  • Philips SatinShave Advanced

1. LumaRx Women's Foil Shaver

Smiley face

LumaRx is a pretty new foil shaver that has a few quite advanced features. That’s why it caught my eye in the first place. Come on, not many electric shavers have a moisturizing strip that applies oil to skin while shaving. That’s probably the reason why it leaves skin so smooth and soft. It also has flexible foils that let you get closer to that hair and shave them.

Electric shavers are sometimes scary as it seems that they will cut your skin, however, LumaRx has round tips that make everything easier. It’s simple to use and doesn’t cause unwanted irritation. In addition to that, comes with a 2-year warranty. One of the best electric shavers for women’s legs for sure!

I must admit, this electric shaver seems like a piece of perfection with its features. I don’t think there is anything to complain about. However, the price is a bit higher than the one you would pay for a usual razor or electric shaver. You’ll use it for a long time though. After all, its features seem to speak for themselves.

  • Hypoallergenic foils contribute towards close shave.
  • Comes with a moisturizing strip that applies almond oil to your skin.
  • Waterproof, therefore you can use it in the shower.
  • Cuts even flat-lying hair.
  • Comes with a bag, therefore easy to carry around.
  • Doesn’t scrape or pinch the skin.

  • Runs only for 30 minutes when cordless.
  • Can irritate underarm skin if not used proper.

2. Philips SatinShave Prestige

best electric razor for women

This electric shaver is one of the most popular ones among women. Its price is very low for a gadget like that but it still seems to do its job beautifully. The ladies’ shaver comes with hypo-allergenic razor blades and foil. They protect your skin from unwanted irritation and makes shaving pleasurable even on sensitive areas of your body. I truly like this shaver for its price and effectiveness. You can use it both in the shower and in dry conditions. In addition to that, it also works as a trimmer.

I think this electric razor is very good for its price. It doesn’t cause any irritations and works well even on sensitive areas. However, it’s more suitable for quick touch-ups since it doesn’t give a close shave. If you want to have smooth skin, you’ll probably need to spend some time, going over the same area repeatedly to get that hairless smooth skin. All in all, it’s a very attractive choice for its price.

  • It’s sturdy.
  • Has hypo-allergenic razor blades.
  • Can be used both dry and wet.
  • Easy to clean, all you need to do is pop the head off.
  • Doesn’t cause skin irritation.

  • Could give a closer shave.
  • You’ll have to run over the same patch of skin a few times.
  • Doesn’t warn when completely loses charge.

3. Panasonic ES-LA63-S Arc4

electric shaver for legs

That’s the electric shaver that I’ve stolen from my boyfriend. It’s a wet and dry razor, therefore you can use it with or without foam. In addition to that, it has a pivoting head which I found to be extra useful around my knees. It has micro-thin foils that help to lift hair and cut them from the base. That results in a close shave I’ve been babbling about. It also comes with nanotech blades that ensure the close cut. Additionally, it has a killer motor that shaves at a speed of 14,000 cycles per minute. Finally, it has an LCD that shows the shaving functions and status of the battery. They’re quite handy.

The only disadvantage that I see is the price. However, I do believe that the price serves the quality.

  • Has a pivoting head that reaches all corners of your body.
  • Razor motor helps to shave at speed of 14,000 cycles per minute.
  • Micro-thin foils help to lift hair and cut them.
  • You can use it both dry and wet.
  • Very close shave and doesn’t irritate the skin.
  • About 45 minutes of shaving on a single charge.
  • Has a cleaning mode that significantly eases up the cleaning process.
  • You won’t need to change blades for a year if not two.
  • It’s light, therefore easy to carry around.

  • Constant charging can be annoying.
  • Can be quite loud.
  • You will have to use a trimmer first if your hair gets too.

4. Panasonic ES2216PC

This Panasonic shaver has specifically been designed for ladies’ curves. It has a pivoting head and 4 floating blades that help to reach all parts of your body and shave hair. I think the price of this electric razor is what it makes it so attractive. It’s cheap and is specifically built for women. Therefore, you can use it on legs, underarms, bikini line, etc. It also comes with a trimming attachment which can be of big importance when trimming bikini area.

I think this device is good for touch ups in case you’re already removing your hair with a laser or epilator and just want to get rid of that extra hair. It doesn’t provide very close shave and can cause mild irritation on more sensitive parts. However, it’s cheap and does the job. I think it’s the best electric razor for women who are not going to use this device as the main tool for hair removal.

  • Can use it both dry and wet.
  • Has a pivoting head with hypo-allergenic blades.
  • Doesn’t irritate leg skin.
  • Goes smoothly over curved areas, therefore great for womanly figures.
  • It's cheap.

  • Possible mild irritations and burns in armpits.
  • Not a close shave.
  • Doesn’t work as well when not fully charged.

5. Panasonic ES8103S Arc3

Smiley face

I think Panasonic Es8103S Arc3 is definitely used by a lot of men for its lovely features and very affordable middle range price. This little beauty has nano polished blades that cut hair at a 30-degree angle. As a result, you get a close shave that causes no irritation. In addition to that, you can put the shaver into a cleaning mode that helps to get rid of stubble easier. Overall, Panasonic ES8103S Arc3 has quite a few built-in smart technologies that improve the shaving procedure.

This one is great for women since they are less hairy than men. It shouldn’t have any problems attacking your hair and giving you a close shave.

  • Has a flexible pivoting head.
  • Nanotech blades ensure a close shave.
  • Easy to wash and doesn't take long to do it.
  • LCD display shows battery life and cleaning reminders.
  • Comes with a travel pouch.
  • The motor makes 13,000 cycles per minute, therefore is fast at shaving.
  • You can use it both dry and wet.
  • Holds charge very well.

  • Doesn’t offer as a close shave as a razor does.
  • Takes quite some time to get a smooth shave.
  • Blades only last for about 2 months.
  • Cannot be used while plugged in.

6. Philips SatinShave Prestige

best electric razor for women

I’m a big fan of Philips hair removal devices. Whoever is designing them, they’re doing it right. The first two things that I find useful and interesting are 5 accessories and battery indicator light. With this shaver, you know when it’s running out of charge and accessories help you to make the best use of the time you have. You can reach every inch of your skin.

In addition to that, like most of the other Philips devices, this one has extra protection for your skin. It comes with a rounded pearl-tip trimmer that will simply save your skin from any unnecessary irritations.

  • Can be used both wet and dry.
  • Has a battery indicator light that tells when the shaver needs to be recharged.
  • Comes with a travel pouch, efficiency cap, soft glide cap and shaving head comb.
  • Has rounded pearl-tip trimmer and safety bars that protect skin from irritation.
  • Ergonomic grip makes it a comfortable gadget.
  • Offers a close shave, however not as close as a razor does.
  • Efficiency cap helps to shave underarms quite well.

  • It’s possible that you may need to go over the same place a couple times.
  • Takes quite a lot of time to shave.

How to Choose the Best Electric Shaver for Ladies?

electric shavers

Here are some of the features I would look for in a shaver. I hope some of these will help you to decide what type of razor you need to look for.

Some shavers come with a variety of attachments that might be useful. I personally prefer a razor with a trimmer, so I could use it on my bikini line before waxing. A pouch and a cleaning brush can come useful too. I think there is nothing better than being able to safely store your razor and keeping it clean.

How Easy It is to Clean It

Speaking of keeping it clean… Waterproof shavers are most likely going to be easy to keep clean. That’s due to the fact that you can actually wash them. You don’t necessarily have that opportunity with a regular shaver since it’s relatively hard to reach all the corners with a brush only.

Corded vs Cordless

If you love to camp, a cordless electric shaver can come in handy. Otherwise, corded ones are usually stronger and thus can give you a quicker shave. But, if you’re not a big fan of cables, it’s a good idea to look for a shaver that runs on batteries instead.

Body Parts You’re Going to Use It On

I’ve mentioned above that some shavers work better on legs. That’s because they’re more flexible, the head moves easier and you can maneuver them around the knees. If you want to use one on your underarms, you might need to either get an attachment for that or just look for the shaver with a smaller head. You should look for a similar product for your bikini area too.

Waterproof or Not?

If you want to use the shaver in the shower or after it, get a waterproof shaver. Honestly, it’ll save you a lot of time and make it easy to get rid of the hair. If shaving in the shower isn’t very important to you, save a couple bucks and get a cheaper razor that you can only use in dry conditions.

Noise Levels

I think this might be important for mothers. A more quiet shaver will help you to get smooth legs without waking up the baby! I know some of you get easily annoyed by the noise too. So, that’s certainly a factor to take into account when buying the best shaver for yourself.

How to Use an Electric Shaver?

The first time I decided to buy an electric razor was when I had bought a short red dress to wear to an event. I started shaving my legs with a disposal razor, as usual, and it turned into an absolute disaster. That was the first time I seriously started considering using an electric razor. I kind of fell in love with this gadget over time and learned how to use it properly. Here are some of the tips you might find useful.

Use a Warm Towel

Soak a towel in warm water and wipe your legs with it. Glide the towel starting from the bottom and move your way upwards in the opposite direction of your hair growth. This technique will slightly soften the hairs, but mostly open up the pores. That will let the electric razor get closer to the roots.

Dry Out Skin and Start

Get another dry towel for your legs. Glide it over them as before. Afterward, use your electric razor to shave your legs. It’s best to shave towards the direction of your hair, but you’ll notice that shaving in all directions is something that gives the best results.

Moisturize Your Skin

Whether you go for dry or wet shaving, this is an extremely important step! You should moisturize right after you’re done shaving to make sure your skin doesn’t lose that extra moisture. The cold cream also helps with possible irritations.

I hope you now have an idea what is the best electric razor for women. Finding the right device is sometimes hard and time consuming. I know that very well since I’ve experienced it too many times. In case you want to learn more about hair removal history, click here
