Vikings Blade – The Chieftain Safety Razor
Viking Blades have been around for quite a few years. And there’s a good reason why it’s that way. There’s two types of them: a standard blade, called The Chieftain, and a longer blade, called The Vulcan. These Swedish blades are made from high-end materials that follow a rigid quality control check. They are heavier than most and feel pretty nice in a hand. You can also easily change them in less than 5 seconds.
What I like about this company is that it offers an international lifetime warranty. That’s pretty cool even though you’re not spending tons of money on the razor in the first place. The product comes with a leatherette, a suede case with a mirror, 5 complimentary platinum coated trainer blades, and a user guide for beginners. It’s quite a good package for any beginner. The blade alignment helps with avoiding accidents. Additionally, the knurling of handle gives it a good grip. If you have coarse hair, then this one might be just for you.

The Vikings blade isn’t just for men. If you’re a lady who’s looking to shave her legs, this safety razor is a pretty good catch. Additionally, you’re not going to cut yourself probably ever. I think it only makes sense to get a reusable razor instead of buying disposable ones. The cheap razors clog up and contribute to waste generation. It’s good to think of environment.
Weishi Nostalgic Safety Razor
Weishi Nostalgic does exactly what its name suggests. It’s a blast from the past. I remember my grandfather using a razor exactly like this one. The product is one of the most affordable ones out there that still serves well. The razor comes with 5 replacement Ying Ji Li blades. If you expected a few fancy accessories, unfortunately you’re not going to get them with this one. It’s a good product for beginners since it’s mild. The razor is also comparable to the 2nd setting on a Gillette Super Adjustable. Actually, it looks nothing like the cheap razors out there and makes for a good gift. The chrome colour with perfect finishing is an eye pleaser too.

After 6 months of using this safety razor, my friend is pretty happy with this purchase. The only downside to this affordable safety razor seems to be the blade alignment. This might be a slight inconvenience especially if you are a newbie. Most cartridge razors have pre-aligned blades but for the Weishi, you need to adjust it according to your preference. You can learn to do that, so don’t shy away because of it.
Parker 99R Safety Razor
The Parker 99R is yet another long, butterfly opening safety razor. The opening mechanism makes it quick and easy to replace the blades. Most importantly, the 4-inch long handle has an ample grip. This brand is Indian and it’s been in the business of manufacturing for around 40 years now. Pretty impressive, isn’t it? They’ve been introducing new products, thus making 99R their most successful item so far. Parker has a patented smooth shaving head and the entire razor is made of a solid brass frame. It’s coated with nickel too. The razor is pretty heavy, so it definitely makes it easier to shave your face, legs or whatever it is that you’re after.

When it comes to cleaning this product, it’s not exactly easy. However, once you figure it out, you should be just fine.
Vikings Blade – The Godfather Safety Razor
The Godfather Safety Razor has a classic design that ensures precise shaving. It’s hand-crafted from alloys containing brass and bronze. It also has a chrome plate finishing, if that’s of any importance to you. All in all, this safety razor is definitely an eye-candy. The handle has one black and red strip, not something you see on other safety razors. I think its design can make for a very good gift. Unlike most other razors mentioned here, the Godfather doesn’t have a butterfly opening mechanism. All you have to do with this one is unscrew the top of the razor and feel free to remove, replace, and clean the blade. All of that can come with practice, I’m sure!
If you are a beginner and are looking for a reliable safety razor, then the Godfather could be a nice option. However, do consider that the handle of the Godfather since it’s smooth and polished, unlike the Chieftain’s. If you’re clumsy like me, you can stay off the Godfather and go for the Chieftain instead. This safety razor also comes in a handy travel case. However, it doesn’t have a mirror which is a bummer.
Bevel Safety Razor
Bevel Safety razor is a single blade safety razor. It has a very sleek and prim appearance. The blades do not stick out and are angled conveniently for a close shave. In fact, it looks like a device straight from a sci-fi movie! What’s more is that the Bevel safety razor is designed for coarse and curly hair. It is re-engineered from a classic safety razor to shave only the hairs without nicking the skin. It has large openings in the bottom that enables to rinse out the hair quickly and easily. Thus, it’s a boon for beginners due to the sheer simplicity of it.

The razor also removes dead skin cells, that might be especially important if you often forget to exfoliate. Let’s be honest, this word is probably not even in the vocabulary of some! Exfoliation, though, is very important and can significantly improve your skin appearance. With that said, this razor helps with getting rid of ingrown hairs and having a shinier, smoother skin. However, you do need to be careful with the blade since the handle is super smooth and can get slippery in wet hands. Although, it’s nothing major and could be easily avoided.
