Why do we have them from time to time? It’s due to the fact that our heel skin can become very dry and split. It not only causes pain and extreme discomfort but also can result in infection. We certainly don’t want that. Therefore, it’s very important to take care of this part of your body. I’m going to give you a few tips on how to cure cracked heels and avoid that unnecessary pain.

How to Cure Cracked Heels – a Few Tips

Here are few methods to cure your cracked heels. They’re relatively easy. Most them involve natural products that you can easily buy in a shop.

Regular Method with Vegetable Oil

First of all, I’d like to tell you about the regular method that all of us should use to cure cracked heels. It involves soaking your feet in warm soapy water till your heel skin gets very soft. Then you need to use a pumice stone and/or electric or any different kind of callus remover to get rid of all of that skin. Afterwards, it’s important to apply vegetable oil to your feet and put warm socks on. In this way oil will moisturize, soften and heal your heels. Finally, you just need to repeat the process.

Summary:

  1. Soak your feet
  2. Get rid of dead skin
  3. Apply vegetable oil
  4. Put socks on
  5. Repeat

Banana Paste

Bananas are pretty soft fruits that are good source of potassium and vitamin C. It has soothing properties and can soften heel skin pretty quickly. What you need to do is take a few ripe bananas mix them into a paste and apply that paste on your heels. It would be good to put a sock on and keep it that way during the night. However, if it’s not possible, you can still leave the paste on your heel for 20 minutes and wash it off. It would be good to repeat this procedure 3-4 times a week until the problem disappears.

Vaseline and Lemon Juice

It’s an interesting remedy for our lovely heels. I know we usually use Vaseline for our lips. However, this time I’ll tell you how to use it for your feet. First of all, you need to soak your feet in warm water so that skin gets softer. After that, dry out your skin very well so that the mask we’re about to apply is able to do its job easily. Now mix one teaspoon of Vaseline with 3 teaspoons of squeezed out lemon juice. Apply this mixture to your heel and leave it during the night. Of course, you can leave it for an hour or so as well. However, keeping it on during the night will let you achieve the results faster an easier. Lemon is a very rich source of vitamin C which improves metabolic rates and contributes to new cell formation. Therefore, it will do a significant job with calming down the cracks and softening the skin.

Honey

Honey is simply one of those products that can do wonders to both your beauty and health. It nourishes skin and has a variety of antibacterial properties. That’s very important if you want to cure cracked heels. It will simply make sure that no further infection will affect you and reduces the pain. How to use it? Simply add half a glass of honey to a bucket of warm water, mix thoroughly and soak your feet in there. Give yourself some time and enjoy the procedure. All in all, you’ll start noticing results after a couple of times going through the procedure.

Soda

Soda is great at reducing inflammation and if used in right proportions can help you get beautiful feet. It helps to remove dead skin and overall soften your heels. What’s the recipe? It’s quite simple. First of all, you need to fill up a bucket with warm water and add 2-4 tablespoons of soda, depending on how large your bucket is. Make sure you soak your feet in water for at least 15 minutes. In my opinion, the longer, the better. Afterwards, scrub off dead skin and wash your feet with cold water. You can now potentially apply some moisturizing cream to soften the skin and keep them warm so that cream can hydrate cells more efficiently.

Olive Oil and Oatmeal

The first one we use for our lunch or dinner and the other for our breakfast. However, you can very well use the mixture of both to soften your heels. Olive oil moisturizes skin while oatmeal exfoliates dead skin cells. Both of these properties can provide great results when combined. How to make this mask? Mix 1 tablespoon of powdered oatmeal with 1 teaspoon of olive oil. Apply this mixture to your foot and keep it on for at least 30 minutes. Afterwards, rinse with cold water and you’re pretty much done.

Go to Beach

Let’s be honest. Being in nature is always the best cure since we were kind of born to do that. First of all, the sand that you’re going to be walking on the beach will constantly scrub your feet and remove dead cells. Second of all, going into salted water will both soften skin and get rid of everything that’s in between the cracks. The cycle of walking and swimming provides a good treatment for cracked heels. Therefore, enjoy nature as much as you can and go beaching! However, don’t forget to always shower after such adventures and moisturize the skin. Salt can easily start irritating more sensitive skin if it stays on it for too long.

Creams

There are also a lot of creams in the market just now. Many of them could very well be used to heal cracked heels. However, you should search only for a specific kind of creams. They should have heavy consistency and be nutrient rich. It’s important that they have anti-inflammatory and exfoliating properties as well. Otherwise the effect won’t be prominent.
